Should I Work with A Dietitian?

Who doesn’t love HGTV and a DIY weekend project?I  used to think I was crafty and that my husband was good with projects.

We had a vision, but sadly, our execution was not that great to be honest. Homemade headboard? All you need is just some fabric, a nail gun, and a few layers of foam! These looked so much better and way easier to make on TV! Painting, patching, or putting up drywall? Took us waaaay longer to finish and the final product wasn’t done right. Mistakes and imperfections were easy to spot. We eventually started hiring a contractor who knew exactly what he was doing. He even found problems (like water damage) that we wouldn’t have been able to spot.

He knew what to look for and how to fix it right. Not only was the work done better, it was done faster. We didn’t have to spend weekends upon weekends and supplies all over to finish a project. I’m not saying to never do anything yourself, but there are times when you’re better off going to a specialist. They know how to assess the situation, the best quality supplies to use, how to troubleshoot when problems suddenly happen, and so much more. But most of all, they know how to do the work without messing it up or messing something else up. They won’t cut an electric wire, break a pipe, or set your house on fire. Unfortunately, when it comes to health, so many people are DIY-ing it. And they are doing harm without even realizing it! I even recorded this video about this topic a while back that I wanted to share with you today…

You may get some results on your own … but not necessarily the best and most complete results. And it may take you way longer to get there. I know that many people are forced to DIY their health. Their doctors are not listening. They’re told that they’re “fine.” Labs come back normal and they have no real answers or solutions. Or, if they’re given a diagnosis, the treatment offered is a medication (sometimes with too many side effects or something that doesn’t actually fix the root problem) or an invasive procedure. Or, they’re told that there’s no cure. Learn how to live with it. Diet has nothing to do with it. Take some ibuprofen and move on with life. If you’re one of those people, you know it’s frustrating. You refuse to settle because you know there’s a solution but no one is looking in the right direction. You want help getting to the root cause so you can fix it. We may have not met yet, but I know what you’re going through.

This is exactly how my patients feel before we work together. I’m not bashing doctors by the way. It’s important to see a doctor and rule out some conditions. But doctors don’t have the time or training to address nutrition, food, supplements, healthy alternatives, how to cook certain foods, and other day-to-day concerns that will ultimately affect your health. And I’m not saying I’m a magic healer and can help everyone with every single health problem. But…I have helped so many people who felt puzzled and confused about their health. My patients were able to transform their lives and get rid of symptoms that several specialist doctors couldn’t help them with. You can read about their experiences here. We get results because we start with the foundation–food! We get data and pick the right foods. Then we look at your gut, the major barrier that protects you from bacteria, parasites, pesticides, yeast, and other “outside” invaders. We strengthen your gut, improve your digestion, and calm your immune system.

And the rest just falls back into its place.

Nour’s guidance and expertise was the key to dramatically halting our son’s [Crohn’s] disease progression! His pediatric gastroenterologist is now in agreement of our choice to treat solely with diet and supplements. All his labs have improved and his inflammatory markers are so low they are practically nonexistent.

Before working with Nour, I experienced intestinal pain off and on for for 54 years with minimal success on medications. I have benefited 100% from Nour’s program as I am now pain free!

A lot of time and money was wasted on foods that I thought would help my digestive struggles [diarrhea, bloating, hunger], but in fact I was making it worse. The main benefit is getting a handle on what negatively affects my digestive symptom. Doing a total 180 to my eating habits has been pretty amazing.
