This is the time of year when everyone thinks of goals and resolutions, what they accomplished, how their previous year went, and what they want for the next one. Whether you believe last year was good or not, these thoughts can be emotionally draining. We all have hopes and dreams. We all succeed and fail. And we all certainly face challenges.
How do we get through it all? How do we make the best of our year? How do we make the best of our DAYS?
Personally, little sayings of wisdom and inspiration stick with me. I repeat them when the going gets rough. They help me get over the difficulty and inspire me to be and do great things. They inspire me to be patient and resilient.
Whatever you aspire to do or be in 2015, surround yourself with some inspirational quotes or mantras. I always tell my clients to keep a list of things their most supportive friend would say if she was around when you’re in distress. Maybe, it’s what your grandmother or grandfather would tell you if you were to go to them for advice.
When it comes to goals and resolutions, weight loss is certainly one of the top goals people want to achieve year after year. Other goals are spending more time with family, traveling, or getting out of dept. And while mapping a diet that addresses the science and physiology of our bodies or having a detailed action plan to manage finances and pay off loans are necessary, our emotional and mental well-being is as equally important.
In this post, I’m sharing 21 inspirational quotes and words of wisdom related to health and life in general. Some are my personal favorites, and others are favorites of my colleagues.

Michal Hogan, RD LD, shared this next one. For me, it inspires me to be content with what God has given me today, as of now. To be grateful and thankful. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to strive for more in the future, but it’s always important to feel grounded and start from a place of contentment. For me, this also means that I can’t control everything and I will let things go. God has given me something different that what I wanted, He knows what is best for me, and I’m going to do good with it.
Judy Barbe, likes this next one. For her, it means living with intention and making the most of what you have to live the life you want.
Carla D Spencer, MBA RD LD CN, says that her best results have come from helping people understand that sustainability of any change is what really matters. She shares this one with them. Angie Lamberson, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, Dietitian, Diabetes Educator & Certified Integrative Health Coach, shared this brilliant quote. It’s very relevant if you’re trying to improve the way you eat or establish an exercise routine.
This next one is one of my own favorites. I sometimes get overwhelmed when I embark on a new project or face a big change in work or life. I always remind myself that it’s ok to be uncomfortable, that staying in my comfort zone will not take me to where I want to be.
I worked with Chere Bork, an amazing life coach, few years ago right after I had my second son. Trying to be it all and do it all (mom, wife, dietitian, business owner, daughter, sister, friend, and probably few other things more), I got overwhelmed and felt stuck. Some of the things she told me remain in my head today, 4 years later. Check her website and sign up to her newsletter if you feel that life is taking you in many different directions.
Lesson learned: time is finite. Stop trying to keep up with the hours. Stop saying ‘there’s not enough time.’ Start thinking of how to use my energy best.

Lesson learned: I can’t be a supermom, super-wife, super-business owner, super-travelor, have the super house, etc. I can’t do everything so I have to choose what matters the most. Talk about simplifying life!
I L-O-V-E this one from Chere too. If there’s something you really want to do in 2015, then do it. For me, this is very true to traveling and going on vacations. If I want a vacation to be part of my new year, I have to sit down and book it. If I want to go hiking, canoeing, biking, camping, whatever it is, I just have to create the time to do it. I’m going to quit excuses and start acting.

This is another one I remind myself and my clients with all the time. Are you an ‘all-or-nothing’ kind of person? Drop perfection and stick with progress. Remind yourself where you were and where you’re at right now. Write a journal or create some milestones to help you see the progress and the journey.
